Introduction

In today's fast-paced world, time is a valuable commodity that cannot be wasted. Uploading large quantities of data can be a daunting task that can take up a significant amount of time, especially when the data includes multimedia files, such as videos, images, and audio recordings or entire content of the disk drive, which require significant storage space.

Overview

Compressed archive files play a critical role in digital evidence management systems by improving the efficiency, security, and reliability of managing and storing digital evidence. These files are widely used to package and store large amounts of data in an organized and compact way, and they offer several use cases in digital evidence management systems:

  1. Storage efficiency: Digital evidence can consist of large multimedia files, such as videos, images, and audio recordings, which require significant storage space. Compressing these files into a single archive can reduce the amount of storage space required to store the evidence, making it easier to manage and store on a long-term basis.
  2. Preservation: Compressed archive files help preserve digital evidence by ensuring that all files related to a particular case are stored in a single location. This reduces the risk of data loss or corruption, making it easier to maintain the integrity of the evidence over time.
  3. Organization: Compressed archive files can be used to organize digital evidence into specific folders or categories based on the type of data, the date it was acquired, or other relevant criteria. This makes it easier for investigators to quickly locate and access the information they need, reducing the time required to investigate a case.
  4. Security: Compressed archive files can be encrypted and password-protected to provide an additional layer of security for sensitive digital evidence. This helps prevent unauthorized access and protect the confidentiality of the evidence.
  5. Sharing: Compressed archive files make it easier to share digital evidence between investigators, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. By compressing all the relevant files into a single archive, it becomes easier to share and transfer the evidence without the risk of loss or corruption.

Upload Compressed Archive Evidence Files

Uploading a .zip file in VIDIZMO allows users to upload a large quantity of content much faster than uploading individual files. Compressed files take up less storage space and can be transferred more quickly than uncompressed files. This makes it a time-saving and efficient option, especially when dealing with large files and multiple files.

Preview Contents of Compressed Archive

One of the key features of uploading a .zip file in VIDIZMO is the ability to preview the contents of the zipped file without extraction. This feature allows users to view the contents of the uploaded zipped file so that they can be aware of all the content present in the file. The option to preview the zip file also enables users to explore what files and folders exist in the zipped file and navigate within the zipped file. This feature saves users time and effort, allowing them to quickly locate and access specific files or data within the zipped file.

Search Contents of Compressed Archive

Another useful feature of uploading a .zip file in VIDIZMO is the ability to search contents within the zipped file from VIDIZMO Global Search. This feature allows users to search the contents of a zipped file that has been uploaded to their portal, making it easy to find and navigate to specific files or data within the zipped file. This feature is particularly useful when dealing with large files and multiple files.

Extract Compressed Archive

When the zipped folder is uploaded, VIDIZMO automatically extracts the contents of the folder and organizes them into the correct folders and subfolders. This ensures that users can maintain their folder hierarchy even when uploading a large number of files. The process is quick and easy, allowing users to start sharing their content with others right away.

Users can also extract all or selective contents of the zipped file in VIDIZMO. This feature allows users to extract the contents of the uploaded zipped file and export it in VIDIZMO as individual mashups.

Extract at Selective Location

Users can choose the location where they want to extract the zip file in VIDIZMO, allowing them to organize their files more efficiently. When users select a file or full zip file and click on the extract button, a pop-up will appear containing the selected items with title displayed, the path where it will be extracted (the same location where the zip file is located will be selected by default), and the option to browse folders, cases, or in evidence library directly. Users can also handle the scenario where a file with the same name already exists, giving them control over how the extraction process handles files with the same name.

Link Extracted Files

Additionally, users can link extracted files in the preview page, making it easy to recognize which files are extracted from the zip file and which are not.

Miscellaneous Files

In today's digital age, businesses are generating a vast amount of digital content every day. From videos, images, and documents to audio files, there are various file types that organizations need to manage and organize efficiently. However, not all file types can be played back within a single platform, which can make it challenging to store and manage them in one place.

That's where VIDIZMO comes in. VIDIZMO is a robust digital asset management platform that supports a wide range of file formats, including videos, images, documents, and audio files. But even for those file types that cannot be played back within the platform, VIDIZMO still provides you with the ability to organize, store, and manage them efficiently. You can either extract Miscellaneous file from Compressed archive file, or you can directly upload them and store them as an evidence in VIDIZMO. You can also perform variety of actions on Miscellaneous files, including moving files to relevant cases or folders, copying files, sharing files, deleting files, archiving files, and adding notes. With VIDIZMO, you can streamline your workflows and improve productivity across your organization.

Keep track of your Files using Audit Logs & Chain of Custody

When any action is performed on a compressed archive or miscellaneous file, relevant events are triggered and logged in the audit log and chain of custody. Users can view the logs in Chain of Custody & Audit Logs, and compressed archive and miscellaneous files are added in Flagged Evidence Section as well as the Global section. Users can also turn notifications On/Off to receive notifications for any relevant events.
