Introduction

Enterprises today are looking for more effective ways to analyze information to gain valuable insights. Breaking down content into smaller and manageable chunks allows for more in-depth analysis. VIDIZMO Applications utilize advanced customizable players that let you perform Frame-by-Frame analysis on your videos via seeking.

Concept

A video is a collection of static images, known as frames, stitched together chronologically. These frames change so quickly that the human eye believes the content is dynamic and in motion. Frame-by-frame analysis of a video involves analyzing these frames to obtain valuable information.

An average video contains about 24 frames per second, meaning every second in that video has a fixed transition of 24 frames. A 24 frames-per-second video captures 24 different activities within a single second. Similarly, a 60-frame-per-second video captures 60 unique moments or activities within a single second. The figure below illustrates this concept.

Frame-by-Frame Analysis in VIDIZMO

VIDIZMO allows you to seek a video frame by frame to make your analysis more precise. Frame-by-frame analysis ensures that you do not miss out on moments that provide crucial insight into the activity you are analyzing. VIDIZMO players let you pause a video at any moment and seek forward or backward by a single frame.

For example, if you upload an ultra-high-definition video of 300 frames per second, this feature will allow you to capture or view as many as 300 images in one second of the video. So, if the video is around 3 minutes 40 seconds long, you can seek through a gallery of 12,180 individual images. Going to this level of granularity guarantees the ability to make responsible decisions.

How to Seek Frame-by-Frame

Before you perform Frame-by-frame analysis, your default video player needs to be able to seek through videos. As a Manager+ user, enable the “Seek Frame by Frame” option on your Portal’s default player template. To learn how to edit player templates, visit How to Add, Edit, or Delete a Player Template.

After the default Player Template has been configured, begin your analysis by following the steps below.

  1. Using the Homepage or the Media Library page, select any video you wish to analyze frame by frame.

      2. Hover over the video to reveal the controls and click the double-forward arrow to seek forward by a frame. Long-pressing the icon will start playing the frames sequentially. Stop till you reach the point you want to navigate to or resume seeking.

      3. Similarly, if you want to seek backward by a frame, use the double-backward arrow. Long-pressing its icon will play the frames sequentially in reverse. You can use it to navigate to a moment that has passed and start seeking from there.
