Content formats is the list of all possible file formats that are supported by VIDIZMO. These formats can be mapped to a specific media type, which lets VIDIZMO identify how they are supposed to be stored, processed and delivered. For example a content format for wmv file (extension) has 'video' as its 'media type'. This tells VIDIZMO that it has to be transcoded and will be played back in a player. However a content format with 'jpg' file (extension) is mapped onto an 'image', will not be transcoded and will be displayed in an image viewer.

Before you Start

  • Administrators can add, edit or delete Content Formats in VIDIZMO.
  • You can configure this using an application on premise. Otherwise, you may contact our support to make the changes to content formats.
  • Deleting content format would break the uploading process for that particular format.

Steps to add Content Formats

3. To add formats from the Content Formats screen:

i. Click on the Add button at the top left corner of your screen resulting in an empty form as the first record of the table.

iii. Enter the Extension of the format such as mp3 for an audio file or m4v for a video.

iv. Enter the Mime Type for the file format you are adding. Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) type is a label used to identify a type of data. It is used so that software can know how to handle the data. It serves the same purpose on the Internet that file extensions do on Microsoft Windows. So if a user says "This is video/mp4" VIDIZMO application can understand "This is a video file. I need to transcode it and play it back using the media player", while if the server says "This is application/pdf" the client can go "I need to launch the PDF Reader plugin that has registered itself as the application/pdf handler." Read more about it here.

v. Click on the add icon to update record.
