Overview
In this digital transformation, considering how visually appealing is video content when it comes to engagement, there is no denying the need to provide additional aiding materials to the viewers to help them retain the information presented in a video.
This applies to industries that are focused on vocational as well as corporate training and information within a video is meant to be understood and memorized for continued progress. In such scenarios, attaching relevant files and handouts during lessons and trainer videos help users concentrate on the concept grasping during the lesson, while the aiding materials, such as a setup file or a step-by-step instruction guide, can be readily downloaded later.
Concept
Handouts are files of any size and type (yes, you heard that right) that you could attach to any certain point within your videos right through built-in VIDIZMO Studio Space without any integration with third-party tools.
In addition to video content, you can now enrich your audience with aided documents, downloadable software files, or presentation slides that can substantially help them in either setting up your product for further use or in better grasping the concepts being delivered in a tutorial guide.
Handouts Experience during Video Playback
When you attach a set of handouts at a timed instance, say 00:00:12 in your video, a viewer will see a sleek little attachment icon slide into the video from the top-right of the player for 5 seconds. That icon will be an indication that an attachment has been made available to download from this point forward.
This ensures an uninterrupted video experience while still making sure users have the information which was meant to be conveyed to them.
Now when the user willingly clicks on the handout to view information, they will be able to see a list of file attachments that can be downloaded with a single click, after which the pop-up window can be closed for seamless streaming.
Now, you must be wondering, what if a user is so engrossed in the video content that he forgets to download handouts at that time? Would he be able to download these handouts later?
The answer is yes!
With an attachment icon control fitted right inside the video player, you can now view all attachments in a video available for download.
Use-Case
Who thought you could now make a comprehensive training session using the VIDIZMO application with no external aided accessories or technologies to worry about? A handout is one such complementary feature to help you design a brilliant learning experience for your corporate trainees or product users.
Product Guide for End-Users: While videos can be a fairly handsome tool to allow end-users to engage as well learn basics about a product's configurations and setup, it sometimes falls short of providing text-extensive specifics such as what credentials to use for role-based access control, or which URLs to allow in IP whitelist to secure your system from intruders and data breach.
Vice versa, user manuals are not as sufficient in helping the user understand how to navigate the system and cover various use-case scenarios as a video tour guide. Hence, it becomes substantial to blend in the two mediums to produce a guide that not only walks the user through the system but keeps notifying them to download various handouts that contain all technical details, links, and information required to get the system up and running.
Online Learning Management Systems: With an increasing number of people opting for online courses for personal as well as professional growth, online learning platforms are emerging with better features to cater to various learning use cases and to create a smoother classroom experience.
VIDIZMO, one such platform, can be used to create courses consisting of interactive videos that help users watch lectures, download handouts for various chapters and keep track of their progress by attempting quizzes within videos to see where they stand.
Combined with detailed Quiz Assessment reports, VIDIZMO helps employ progressive teaching tools to create a smoother e-classroom experience for students and teachers alike.
From your Studio Space, you can add handouts to a particular timestamp in your video. To learn more about the steps, see How to Insert Handouts in a Video.
How to Download Handouts from Within a Video
There are two ways of downloading handouts from a video:
- While enjoying a video, you can click on the handouts icon appearing in the video at their preset times (by the one who added them to the video). Following this, you will see the file name from where you can download the file.
- Or, by clicking on the Handouts control within Player, you can check all handouts within a video enlisted with respect to their timed sequence.
