Whether it is a video submitted for learning purpose on an LMS, picture posted for a photography contest, or comments written on some post, there is always a risk that a piece of User Generated Content (UGC) will deviate from what your brand considers acceptable.
Since the exponential increase in the usage of social media sites, content moderation has become one of the most sought-after functions in the industry. Failure by any platform to propose a mechanism for rejecting inappropriate content can result in brand degradation, and an organizational risk of losing genuine viewership. Since the nature of the work requires keen attention to detail, it can be exhausting to manually maintain records of approved content before ingesting into the system.
VIDIZMO offers a robust moderation workflow, which makes the content approval policies comprehensive enough to cater to varying organizational requirements and help ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the published content.
VIDIZMO offers a highly customizable content moderation workflow, where the Portal’s Managers and Administrators have the right to define the moderation policy by setting the acceptance criteria of submitted content. This in turn helps ensure the most relevant content is published on public-facing media portals.
VIDIZMO’s content moderation workflow gives the flexibility of defining the number of approvals required for any media before it is published (made accessible to your audience) on your portal. This setting can be adjusted while configuring your portal to allow content moderation and define its policy. The higher the number of approvals the lower the chances of publishing harmful, inappropriate or offensive content which will help you maintaining an acceptable standard and quality for the content published on your portal.
Gauging the criticality of the issue, the reviewers authorized to perform moderation and determine whether the submitted content can be published, are specially allocated the role of Moderators in VIDIZMO portal. The role of a Moderator is not only authorized to check:
- A reviewer can approve/reject submitted media by a contributor.
- A reviewer can update the content while moderating.
Note: Content can be moderated by any user having Moderator+ rights.
Moderation Status of Media
VIDIZMO maintains the traceability of content to moderate or already moderated in the review folder as follows;
- Approved media can be seen in the Published Tab.
- The content which is yet to approve can be seen in the Review Tab since the default filter set under it is Pending.
- Rejected media can be displayed through the Reject filter.
Use Case Scenarios
VIDIZMO understands its users and their changing requirements, therefore, we always try to accumulate all possible scenarios. Here are some illustrations to better understand how VIDIZMO’s Content Moderation Workflow works in various scenarios, so you can fully comprehend it:
Happy Path Scenarios
Content Approval is a 3 steps process.
i. Contributor uploads content.
ii. Content goes to the Review Tab of your portal.
iii. Once the specified number of Moderators Approve the content it publishes on the portal.
The content rejection policy defined by VIDIZMO is straightforward. If any of the Moderator+ user rejects media, its status will be updated to “Rejected”. The only possible way to publish this media is the approval of the same Moderator who rejected it in the first place along with the minimum approvals as defined in the moderation policy.
Edge Case Scenarios
Approval Policy Update
What will happen to the content pending for approval if a Manager+ user increases/decreases the number of approvals needed? The answer is, in case of approvals count update, the media awaiting approval will automatically be handled in such a way that the new policy will be implemented on it. So, for example, if an Administrator reduces the minimum approval count to 2 from 3, the media pending for approval will only need 2 approvals to be published, and it will be published directly if it already has 2 approvals.
Note: A workflow will be initiated when there is a change in policy, that will re-evaluate the moderation status of all media that are pending review based on the updated policy.
If a Contributor updates submitted media during the approval process (e.g. heading, category, tags, etc.), the media will revert to the initial state and all approvals/rejectui (if any) given to the media earlier will be nullified. This case helps Moderators to re-check the content, with new changes, before it publishes.
